She had to go and put the jacket on. Again. It must have been the fourth time that week she'd put it on, even when it wasn't really cold. Sure, she actually had a reason to put it on today, but that was besides the point. It wasn't even her jacket! Azura Rainier thought herself silly and a little bit lovestruck. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about that boy she'd run into nearly four weeks ago. She'd been on a trip with her family in Lake Tahoe, and when she'd told them she wanted to go and explore, she'd gotten lost. Alex had rescued her, and set her on her way again: except that time, he'd come with her. They'd ended up spending the entire day together, sharing kisses and things about themselves they didn't even tell the people closest to them, let alone complete strangers. But that day, inevitably, had drawn to a close. Their parting had a been a little non conventional. See, Zura was a girl that was all about fate. If things were meant to be, then they would happen. So, she'd told Alex not to tell her anything about his location, nothing at all about how she could reach him. And, for good measure, she’d kept his jacket. The girl hadn’t been able to get him out her head. Every time she closed her eyes, she felt him kissing her. Every time she talked to other boys and they had their superficial flirting, she remembered how real and genuine Alex had been with her. She was incorrigible. When she’d come back home that day, her parents had looked at her like she was crazy when she told them she’d just spent the day with a boy she’d met. Of course, they were used to their daughter doing peculiar things like that, so it didn’t really bother them. What they didn’t expect was their daughter’s constant precoccupation the past few weeks: her mind was always somewhere else, and never really invested in the current conversation. Of course, she went through her normal daily activities, but it was clear her mind was just someplace else.
It may have been foolish, feeling this way about someone she’d never met. But what could you do, right? Azura was confused as to how she could meet someone and spend a few hours with them, and feel like you’d known them you’re entire life. She’d talked it over with some of her closer friends, trying to figure it out, but they’d come up with nothing except for the weird idea of love at first sight. Azura was open to a lot of things, but that wasn’t one of them. While she was very open and friendly, happy to get to know anyone who wanted to get to know her, she viewed herself as fundamentally flawed. She thought that whoever would end up being close to her, anyone she’d end up loving… she’d just let them down. Just like she let her brother down, her parents down. Her parents, it was just ending with her constantly feeling like she wasn’t enough for them. For her brother, it had ended in his death. It wasn’t something she liked to think about, or talk about with anyone. And with Alex, it had just come out so easily, before she could even think about it. It had been so strange, talking to him about things like that. Yet it had felt so perfect and right. Just like how it felt right to constantly be enveloped in the folds of his jacket. She’d been treating it practically like it was religious artifact. She kept it safe from anything that might harm it when she wasn’t wearing it, and when she was, she stayed a mile away from anything that might ruin it. Knowing her and her clutzy nature, it was a risk to be wearing it in the first place, but thus far, nothing bad had happened to it. The only negative thing was that it was starting to smell less like him and more like her. The thought caused her to sigh was she pulled her hair back in a short little pony tail. She slipped her arms into the leather jacket, taking a wiff of the collar as she did so. It did still smell like him, so for now, she was satisfied.
Azura had to work that night, so when she left the house she was dressed in clothes she wouldn’t get in trouble for wearing at the restaurant. The Wharf was crowded, as it always was on a Sunday night, and Azura had to fight her way through the crowds until she finally was able to get up and into the restaurant. Work was uneventful, as usual, and by the time closing came around she was chomping at the bit to get gone. She gathered the money she made through tips and shoved them in her pockets, slipping on Alex’s jacket as she walked outside. It was cold, and foggy as it only got around San Francisco at night. The pier was less crowded, but there was still a fair amount of people and Zura didn’t feel like going home yet. So, she decided she would get ice cream. It was always good, no matter what the weather or time of day, and she was a firm believer in that. So walked into the ice cream shop they had towards the middle of the pier, ordering a vanilla milkshake with chocolate on top. She was sipping into it when she opened the door with her back, and it hit something. Or, rather, someone. Just breaking out in a silly tone, just because it was the type of person she was, she started saying in a rather Brooklyn like accent, ”Hey hey hey! Watch where yo goin’, yo!” So, it came out more ghetto than she expected. What could you do? Azura turned her body, stepping away from the door and letting it shut as she turned towards the person she’d run into. ”So sorry, yo… Alex?” She said, her light green-blue eyes widening as she looked up at him. Impossible… it couldn’t be! He was in San Francisco? They were actually seeing each other again? And she was wearing his jacket. She felt her face heating up a little. Well. This was slightly embarrassing.

How long had it been? Alexander wasn't even sure, but it had to be at least four weeks. If not, it was getting damn close to it. For weeks and that stranger that he had spent just a few hours with was still wandering around in his mind. He could still remember perfectly how confused and lost she seemed, there was just something about seeing her that made him want to help her. It wasn't an action that Alexander usually took upon himself to do. Actually, it was quite surprising that he hadn't just completely turned in the other direction and let the girl figure herself out on her own. Like he really gave a damn about where she ended up or how lost she was, he had shit to do.. Like, not do his work and smoke. But, no. He had helped her, then gotten both of them even more lost then before, he had taken her hand in his, kissed her lips. There was no denying the fact that it was all incredibly fast. But, while he realized that he hadn't even known her for a full day, he didn't really care. To Alexander, it felt like he had known her for a few years, not a few hours. He never thought that he would ever feel so comfortable around someone before, feel the way he did around her. Before he could help himself, he was telling her things that he had never even told his brother. Talked about his writing, what he wanted to do with himself. That was something that he never opened up to anyone about. He wasn't quite sure why, he just didn't. It wasn't something he ever felt comfortable bringing up in conversation and yet that day, it was exactly what he was doing and he didn't even think twice about it. Honestly, it was all like a totally and completely different Alexander. From the minute that he offered to help her to the second they parted their ways. He wasn't the way he usually was, because if he had been, there was no way that the beautiful girl would have given him the time of day that she did.
The boy hadn't mentioned it to anyone but his brother, but lately he found himself doing things that he normally never did. Alexander was taking more walks, allowing himself to take time to try to sort out his thoughts and reminisce on those memories of the time he spent with Azura that just wasn't long enough. So, it was no surprise that Sunday night he was doing it all over again. He let Kellan know that he was heading out for a walk, which the guy still gave him a strange look for saying, shoved his pack of smokes into his pocket and walked right out the front door. It felt strange walking out of the house without throwing on that jacket of his, but he didn't bother digging into his closet and pulling out another one. That nice breeze outside reminded him that he didn't have it on, which only reminded him of who had it. Wherever Azura was, it was nice to know that a part of him was right there with her. It was corny as hell, but it was true. His legs took like strides as they led him to God knows where. His head was up, those chocolate brown eyes looking straight ahead of him, but he barely saw anything at all with his mind so distracted. Occasionally he would bring a hand up to mess with his curls slightly. Maybe he never would see her again. It was probably for her better anyway. If she ever got a dose of how he really was.. or how he put himself to be, there was no way she would want to stick along for too long. It wasn't even fair that the poor girl got to see such a nice side of him. Who knew if his tendencies would start kicking in again? The guy was known for nothing better then by how he was so good at messing around with girls. He always knew exactly what to tell him, what words to feed them, in order to get exactly what he wanted from them. He was good at it. He was young, but he was already a pro.
The longer he walked, the colder and foggier it seemed to get. That lovely jacket.. If the girl wasn't taking care of it, he would be pissed. Regardless of if he ever saw it again or not. Some guys had their girlfriends that they were protective over, some had their cars, Alexander had his jacket. Just ahead, a familiar ice cream shop started coming into view and it wasn't long before Alexander was leaning up against the side, his back pressing against the hard. cold brick behind him. In a matter of seconds, a cigarette was lit and exchanging places from in between his pale, pink lips to his fingers. Suddenly, he found himself wondering what Azura was doing, who was she was with, how his jacket was doing. Part of him even felt a bit strange for being so curious as to if he would ever see her again or not. For all he knew, she could care less about where in the hell he was. Alexander's head turned over to exhale and blow out smoke and suddenly, the door of the shop hit against the side of his body slightly. Hearing the person's voice should have registered in his head immediately as he composed himself and regained his balance, but it didn't. "What the fu -- " His words came to an immediate halt as his eyes looked over at who it was. His fingers let go of the cigarette between them and his foot casually and quickly stepped it out. Alexander cleared his throat, as if that would just erase her memory of the words that were moments away from having come out of his mouth. "Look who it is.." The anger in his voice that had been there moments before had completely vanished. A grin shot on his lips so fast, you would think he won the lottery. His eyes darted down for a moment as he caught sight of his jacket, lingering on it for just a few short seconds before gazing back into those eyes he didn't think he would see again. "I see you've grown a liking to my jacket. Nice to see you've been enjoying it." M U S I C , love me for me by ashlee simpson. idk why. S T A T U S , completee! People had automatically known something good happened to Azura Rainier when she showed up at the dinner table with her parents that night, unable to keep a bright smile from her pretty face. They had been a little surprised. While Azura was very open and friendly to everyone else, she was a little cold and closed off to her parents, mostly only because of her history with them. She couldn't help but smile and be just happy around them, still fizzing pleasantly from the high she'd gathered from Alexander. It was still so surreal to her, that she could find someone that she felt so comfortable with. sure, she had always been a girl who was more on the friendly side, anyway, but that was beside the point. no one, and she meant no one, could get her talking about the things she had talked about with him, like her brother. and no one rarely ever got a kiss out of her on the first meeting. vaguely, she wondered if this made her somewhat of a slut. the adjective wasn't one used to describe azura. she wasn't chaste, necessarily, but she didn't go around and kiss every boy that happened to come and capture her attention like Alexander had. well, okay. so no one had ever really captured her attention like alex had, but that wasn't the point. her parents knew something was up, and when they asked her about it she didn't lie. she told them she had been spending the day with a boy, and they both looked at her with matching expressions of surprise and disapproval. as if she cared, anyway. but it did get annoying, especially when they caught her going places in his jacket. azura rarely lost her temper, only if a person repeatedly pushed her to her breaking point would she lose it. but her parents just knew how to push the poor girls buttons.
azura would never dream of doing anything less than what was expected of her. you could say she was fairly motivated, but it wasn't because of some academic thing like succeeding in school and becoming valedictorian. it was all because of that video camera she always seemed to have glued to her hand. that was her passion, filming. that was what she wanted to do with herself, and as open as she was, not many people knew it. it wasn't as if she wanted to hide it, actually, azura didn't really care. mostly she just avoided it because there was always going to be someone who would make fun of her for her dream. tell her she should do something she could make a living out of, because come on, she was azura rainier. the girl wouldn't be able to become a respectable film creator or director, what was she thinking? it was yet another reason that led her to growing so attached to alex when she had met him. he had so quickly told her, after she had told him what she wanted to do, that she could do it, and be good at it. that kind of encouragement from someone who was as good as a complete stranger was more than a little exciting and encouraging, especially coming from him. azura was a girl that was full of sighs lately, and and she loosed another one as she cleared a table. would she stop thinking about him for more than a minute? it was impossible, and certainly silly, how he occupied her mind so. Alexander was practically haunting her, and the poor boy didn't even know it. azura continued doing her job, but it was riddled with tiny fiascos. normally, she wasn't distracted so she could not focus on her terminal illness of klutziness. but this wasn't a normally. her mind was drawn away from her work so she got orders wrong, and often found herself tripping over her own feet. finally, her manager spared them both and just told her to go bus tables for the rest of the night. azura felt silly. she needed to get him out of her head. chances were, she was never going to see Alexander again, so why continue to torture herself so?
if you had told the girl, as she slipped her arms into the too long sleeves of alex's jacket, that she would be seeing him again that night, she wouldn't have believed you. that was just too impossible, and just wishful thinking. if you had told her that the face she would be seeing after she opened that door would be his , she would have told you that you were crazy. but her azura was, face to face with Alexander wyatt, the one person she never thought she would see again, but the one person who she never wanted to see more in her life. if only she wasn't wearing his jacket! nevermibd the fact she had just spoken to him like she was a black girl from the hood, she was wearing his god damn jacket. did this make her too obsessed? azura might have dwelled more on it, but that grin on his face derailed her completely. he was happy to see her, that much was obvious. did this mean he had missed her just as much as she had missed him? azura gave a bashful little smile, one that just looked so damn adorable as she replied, "what can I say? it's hard to find a good jacket these days." her beautiful eyes met his, and she allowed a wide smile to split her face: it was one of the ones she was famous for, the ones that caused her whole face to light up and make her look beautiful. before she really thought about it, her arms were around his neck, and she was hugging him. so strange that she felt like a part of her was slipping back into place no that she was back in his presence. "I missed you." she told him, vaguely wondering if that was too forward. nevermibd that, because it was the truth. azura gave him another wide smile, and it was clear to see she was happy.
