It had been a long time since Colton Mercer had seen his home town. Not many would argue that a month was really a large span of time, but to him, it had been the longest month of his life. The night leading up to it was still fresh in his mind, even then. He'd said and done a lot of things that he hadn't meant and he'd almost died for it. Colton had never been the type of guy who did drugs. In fact, he'd always been against them. He'd not only been surprised to find himself smack in the middle of them, but also hugely disappointed. But not nearly as disappointed as his parents had been. He hadn't seen them the first time they'd come to visit him in the hospital. He'd still been unconscious. But when they'd come to see him the next morning, he'd most definitely been awake. It was the moment he had been dreading for months. The confrontation. His parents finally knowing why he avoided them, or why money suddenly went missing, or why he acted strange from time to time. When they'd first entered, they had been nothing but worried, wanting to know if he was okay. For Colton, that was the worst part. The concern was much worse than the yelling that soon followed. Because he felt he didn't deserve it. But he did, in fact, deserve the yelling. Funnily enough, it had been his mother doing most of the voice raising. She'd told him how disappointed she was, and how hurt that he wouldn't tell them his problems. But Colton didn't argue back. He had no right to, after all.
By the end of it, he was informed that he'd been enrolled in a rehabilitation program in Colorado. The young man couldn't say that he was exactly thrilled to be going to rehab. Especially since it was so far away, but he was grateful for the chance to change. And for the fact that this protected him from going to jail for misusing an illegal drug. Something that had been worrying him the moment he'd woken up. Colton didn't want to go to jail. He'd much rather go to rehab. Still, this meant that he would be away from his friends and family until he was ready to be place back in society. Honestly, he wasn't sure how long it was going to take. He'd just hoped that it wouldn't take too terribly long. He didn't really want to leave everyone he knew, everyone he loved. But mostly, he didn't want to leave Eden Lucitania. She had, after all, been the one to save his life. In more ways than she knew. She was happy that he was willing to receive help for his problem, but he could tell that she was sad to see him leave. Even though Colton still felt she had every right to dump him on his ass, she was there unfailingly. For the two short days that he had been in the hospital, she'd rarely left his side. It was no wonder she was there for when he had to finally leave.
The moment was a bittersweet one. He was off to begin life anew, so to speak. But he also had to do something he'd never done before. He'd had to say goodbye to her. It was a challenge, giving her that last short kiss and promising her that when he returned, he would make up for how he'd behaved. Truthfully, the drive down to the center had been excruciatingly long. For one, he had no clue where they were going, and for another, he'd already gone a couple of days without a hit. While he was in front of his parents, he'd done his best to keep the symptoms of the withdrawals hidden, but he couldn't hide everything. When they'd finally arrived, he'd been strangely relieved. No, he didn't want to be there, but he knew what it meant. He would be getting better. And that was all anyone could hope for. Right? The young man hadn't known exactly what would go on during his stay. He'd never had experience with anything like this before. Honestly, Colton was glad that he didn't know. If he'd thought it was bad after merely two days, he was rudely proven wrong after a week. There were days when he couldn't get out of bed, or he woke to find that he'd scratched the skin on his arm so hard that he was bleeding. Nightmares, cold sweats, pain. It was all a part of the grand healing process.
But after a while, things began to get better. The people who worked there were surprisingly friendly. He could only imagine what they had to deal with. There was one nurse in particular who had been exceedingly kind to him. Colt had learned later that she had a son his age. He could only wonder if he reminded her of her own child going through something like that. It only made him that much more glad that his parents were not there. The day that he was given Eden's letters was the best day he'd had since his arrival. It was nice to sit and think about something other than his addiction for a while. Over the course of the long month that he stayed in that place, he and Eden had corresponded through such letters. She would never understand how badly he looked forward to them each day. A day without a letter from her was never a good one. Even though there was nothing particularly life changing about them, he'd read each one so many times that the paper was beginning to get worn from all of the folding and unfolding. He heard from his parents as well, who would always say how they hoped he was doing better and how he could move back in with them if he wanted when he finally came home. As much as he loved them, he'd had to decline that offer. Maybe they were still wary that he would pick up his habits once again, but he really had no urge to do so. He wanted nothing to do with the god forsaken drugs.
One of the best parts about being at rehab was that he didn't exactly have much to do. To most people, this would be a terrible thing. But to Colton it only meant one thing. That he had free time to write. Ever since he'd meddled with the illegal substances, it had become harder and harder to do the one thing he loved. Music was everything to him. He'd missed being able to pick up his guitar and just let the muse flow through him, producing notes and lyrics all in seemingly the right fashion. It had always come so easily to him, and to find that it was difficult had been infuriating. But now that he was starting to become himself again, he found that he was writing like a crazy man. Stacks of papers littered his temporary room. Most of it, he would scratch out, or scribble all over, never being satisfied. But there were a few that he was actually proud of. Such as the song he'd sent to Eden. It was one of many that she inspired. She was, after all, the light in the darkness. The only reason Colton was still alive to write anything. She had picked him up when he was as far down as he could go. And he would never be able to repay her for that. But it wouldn't stop him from trying. The young man had started counting the days until he could see her again. It was frustrating, not knowing exactly when he would be able to leave, but he did everything in his power to make sure that it was as soon as possible. And finally, finally he was told that he was free to leave. He had to admit, when looking back on the day he'd arrived and fast forwarding to the present, he was much better. Physically and mentally. He'd had a lot of time to think while he was there, after all.
Colton was much more animated on the drive back. His parents had wanted to know all about his stay, but he wasn't ignorant enough to tell them everything. They didn't need to know everything. He'd left out more of the gory details, settling on the nicer things. Such as the way the sunset looked when it silhouetted the mountain tops. Or the lake he would often sit by to write a new song. When they'd finally arrived back at his apartment, he'd been eager to get the few bags that he had inside. Explaining to his parents that he would spend time with them later, he shoved the bags in his room before grabbing the keys to his car. It occurred to him that it had been over a month since he'd driven it. He certainly hoped he'd remembered to fill the gas tank up before all of the mess had happened. As he got behind the wheel, it struck him how normal it felt. It was nice to feel normal after all that time. Colt didn't linger on in much, having a destination in mind. He'd convinced his parents to tell Eden that he was coming home about a month later than he actually did. Not that he wanted to make her suffer. He'd just wanted to surprise her. Get the full effect of seeing him in the flesh. Before he made the familiar trip to her house, he stopped by the store to buy her a dozen roses. It would be bad to show up after all this time empty-handed.
After almost rushing through town, Colt finally made it to her house. It looked the same as it always had. Briefly, he hoped that she was actually home, then he exited his vehicle. Stopping at the front door, he raised his hand, hesitating a moment before he rang the door bell. A deep breath of air filled his lungs. Colton couldn't help but hope that one of her family members didn't answer the door. they no doubt knew about what had happened and were probably not happy with him. But when the door actually did open, his fears were put to rest. For there stood the most breathtaking creature on the planet, staring up at him with her deep chocolate eyes. Instinctively, he spoke. "Special delivery for Eden Lucitania." Holding out the flowers slightly, he gave her a small smirk and waited for her reaction. He was content to wait as long as it took her, as simply staring at her was enough for him.

Eden’s days for the past month had been dragging on and on. Words couldn’t fully describe how long each minute of each day had dragged on. She had been able to do busy work with her hands, and soon found if she kept her hands busy, her mind was occupied as well. But then there was those times, like when she was about to sleep, that her mind could only wander and her heart soon grew tight with the loneliness she felt. Though she wasn’t alone by any means, it felt like she was since the most important person in her life had gone states away for God only knew how long. He had to leave, she recognized that, but it didn't make the dull ache she felt in his absence any easier to handle. That was why she felt the constant need to keep her hands busy. If she didn't have time to focus on the hurt, then she could get through her days faster. Too bad the nights just seem to drag on longer, when she had nothing to do but lay and dream of the one person she hadn't heard from in nearly two weeks.
Now those two weeks had been the longest of the entire experience, and the most heart breaking. She had written letter after letter to him, each filled with words of encouragement, how much she loved and missed him, little bits of news from his parents. But he never responded back, so finally, tired of being rejected but knowing if she stopped giving him letters to not respond back to, she'd feel the same rejection anyway, she stopped sending him letters. A week later, she received her first letter from him, and it put her aching heart at ease and quickly made her feel little bit less lonely. Colton Mercer was easily the most important thing in her life. He was the sun in her sky, the reason she kept going through the day and strived to be the best person she could be. That was all she could really want, and she would try with all her heart, because Colton promised to do the same for her. He had promised in the hospital to be better for her, and even though she didn't really see how he could be, he promised he would try. Eden didn't see how Colt could possibly get any better than he already was. Of course, he saw several faults within himself that she was more than ready to look over. In fact, it wasn't so much that she would ignore them than the fact she wasn't capable of seeing them in the first place. Her naivety and her devotion to the older boy clouded over any other judgement she may have had, and she would find out that this was for the best, because they were perfect together, in every way. He fit her as she fit him, and that was the fact of the matter.
Truthfully, Eden couldn't have imagined stumbling upon any other person in the park that day. Any time she thought of it, it brought a smile to her beautiful face, and she couldn't help but just bask in the pleasantness of the memory. Meeting Colton had been the best thing that had ever happened to her, there was no doubt in her mind about that. She quickly came to realize that her devotion and attachment to him was something she would never be able to get rid of; that was part of the reason why him being gone for so long was so hard. Eden was counting down the days until she could gaze upon his handsome face, touch his skin, hold his hand, feel his lips upon hers. She had thought, from the tone of his letters, that he would be coming home soon, within the next couple of weeks. However, his parents had told her she had to wait an entire month more. It was very rarely you ever saw Eden upset or depressed, and after she learned of this news, she got very sad. Would this distance between them ever cease to be? It seemed like it would take forever for them to be back together again, and after she received that news the days continued to drag on and on, each second seeming to last a little bit longer than the last. Never before in her life had Eden been so conscious of time. Soon, not even busy work kept her thoughts away from those eyes of his, his beautiful voice. The thought of his voice caused her mind to drift to a more pleasant topic, as she lay in her bed that day. Her eyes drifted over to her wall, where she had his song pinned up. Every time she thought of it, read it... it caused her to grow so warm, so wanted, so necessary. And more than that, it reminded her of just how much she truly loved Colton Mercer. With that, her body began to fidget as her mind grew more restless, and finally, she stood up, walking over to her desk and sitting, pulling out stationary and a pen, ready to write yet another letter to Colton.
That was when she heard the door bell ring. Eden sighed, barely glancing at the mirror as she got up and walked out the door. She was dressed in sweats and black t-shirt that rode up to reveal just a little bit of her midriff. Her face was bare, and she looked pleasantly natural and pretty. She didn't mind being without make up, because she wasn't insecure and vain like most of the American girls she came across. It never crossed her mind that she needed to look absolutley perfect before she ever went anywhere. Eden sighed, raising a hand to brush some of her long, dark locks from her face, then using the same hand to open the door. Her eyes landed at the feet, then worked themselves up, to rest on the face of the person standing before her. Eden's heart stopped completely in that moment, as realization dawned on her features. No, it was impossible! She was dreaming. She had to be dreaming, he wasn't back for another month! His parents had told her so, they wouldn't have lied to her... would they? The smirk on Colton's face told her that this was meant to be a surprise, and it certainly was that. Eden reached out a trembling hand, her heart suddenly beating so fast that it might beat straight out of her chest. If he wasn't real, if she was some how dreaming... her poor heart wouldn't be able to take it. Gently, her fingers touched his warm cheek, and her breath expelled in a rush, and suddenly her arms were around him as she hopped up to give him a hug, tugging him as tightly as she could to her. "Colton! You're real! You're here! Why are you here? Did you run away?" Everything was pouring out of her mouth nearly unintelligably, but she couldn't help it, she was just so excited. She pulled away, leaning back to look up into his beautiful, beautiful hazel eyes. Suddenly, a very soft smile came to her features, and it was very clear in the depths of he chocolate eyes just how happy she was that he had shown up on her door step. "You're here... You're finally back with me..." She stated softly, before leaning forward to hug him tightly again, her eyes shutting against as she basked in the glorious feeling of his arms around her. "I missed you, so much." She whispered softly, taking in his smell, the feel of his body against hers, everything she had missed while he had been away.

The hardest part about being in rehab was the nights. The first few of them, especially. This was always when he seemed to be at his most vulnerable point. When the sun went down, it was almost like he was in a different world. Images came back to haunt him, nightmares about demons that didn't exist, or the ones that had plagued him through his life. And always, he was alone. As his system began to cleanse itself of the drugs, his thoughts more turned to the fact that everyone he loved was so far away. In the quiet of the night, he had nothing to turn to but his own memories. This was when the haunting loneliness would creep up on him. Not surprisingly, Eden was the one he thought about the most. How much he missed her smile, hearing her laugh, or just seeing her look at him with that expression of love that she always seemed to wear so well. The sound of her voice plagued his sleep to the point where he thought he just might go insane if he didn't see her soon. But he had to stop and wonder what this really meant. Colton was only a twenty-year-old kid. But here he was having such strong emotions for someone that went well beyond his years. There were some who would argue that he couldn't possibly understand what true love was. He needed more life experience, to really see the world for what it was. However, as far as Colt was concerned, those were the people who didn't know what they were talking about. While it was true that he'd never experienced true love before, he knew for a fact that he was smack dab in the middle of it now.
It was easy for people who had never felt it, to tell him that he was wrong in thinking this. But, what was love really? Caring for someone? Colton cared for plenty of people. But this, this was different. Never had he felt such a strong devotion to someone. There wasn't a single thing he wouldn't do for Eden Lucitania. He would go to the ends of the earth and back if she commanded it. Protecting her was just like breathing to him. It was simply what he was supposed to do. Which might have been part of what had caused the disaster that their relationship had been in the last few weeks. But he'd truly just wanted to keep her out of harm's way. The young man was fairly sure that she didn't understand this fact, but he would literally give up his life to make sure that she was happy. He hadn't realized it until fairly recently, but every word that he spoke and every action that he took was all for her. Everything was for her. And with such feelings inside of him, it was very difficult to be away from her for any length of time. He missed everything about her. The way she smelled, the way she felt in his arms, or how she always seemed to know when something was bothering him. There were actually times when he was close to calling his parents and begging them to take him home. But then he would remember why he was there in the first place. It always helped to resolve his drive to stay when he recalled the agony in Eden's eyes as he basically told her to walk out of his life. Even if he had been high during it, the image was still too sharp in his mind.
Every time this filled his head, he was determined to stay, to make sure that he would never cause that look to be on her beautiful face ever again. When he finally did get home, he would be a new person. Sort of. Colton had made many promises to himself in that room in Colorado. He would never treat her in such a way again. He would do everything in his power to give her whatever she desired. Nothing was too much. And somehow, he wasn't quite sure how, but somehow, he would repay her for what she'd done for him. Even if he spent the rest of his life working towards this goal, he would do it. She deserved it and so much more. So, the day he finally was free to leave, it made complete sense that he wanted, no needed, to see Eden. He'd gone a month too long of not being there with her and he was going to fix that as soon as he could. Perhaps his parents understood his burning desire to be with her, and they hadn't made a fuss about him leaving after being home for merely minutes. Something he couldn't thank them enough for. From the moment he'd left the center, all he could think about was finally getting to touch her again, hear her musical voice. When he was finally on his way to her house, he couldn't help the nervousness that rose up within him. He had his doubts, of course. What if she wasn't all that happy to see him? Maybe her feelings had changed in the last month. It seemed highly unlikely due to the nature of her letters. Which he still had with him, shoved inside of a suitcase full of his clothes, protected by the soft fabric.
Even so, the stupid little butterflies frantically fluttered around inside of him. He told himself that he was being silly, but there was really no stopping it. not until he saw her, that is. As soon as the door opened to reveal her figure standing there, merely inches from him, everything vanished except for an overpowering sense of love. It was in that moment that he truly recognized how much he'd missed her. He watched as she took him in, the fact that it really was him not sinking in for the first few seconds. Colton stood still as she reached out a hand to him, no doubt to check if he really was standing there. Amusement went through him at this. She was so silly. The moment her fingers touched his skin, goosebumps ran up his arms. He'd never thought that such a small action could feel so good. In a split second, she was over the shock and she lunged at him, wrapping her arms around him. He instinctively held her back, basking in the fact that this was the moment he'd waited for so long. And it was finally here. She finally spoke and he laughed lightly at her words. "No, I didn't run away. They let me go. I must have had them fooled into thinking I'm a normal kid now." As she pulled back, his smirk faded into a genuine cheesy grin. Her deep eyes met his and he was once again shocked at how easy it was to get lost in them. The happiness that he found in those beautiful eyes was surely mirrored in his own. And as far as Colton was concerned, this moment was nothing short of perfect. His smile softened as she spoke again in a soft tone. He didn't speak, merely moved his hand upward to brush a few strands of hair from her face. God, she'd grown even more beautiful while he was gone. His memories of her hadn't done her justice in the least.
She leaned forward, wrapping her arms around him once again and he hugged her tightly back. Closing his eyes for a moment, he focused on how right it felt to be holding her. Her words had been merely a whisper, but they reached his ears as loudly as a yell and he couldn't help a smile at them. "I missed you, too. So, so much." His grip on her tightened for a second before he pulled away slightly, staring down at her once again. "I brought you these." He said, holding up the roses that were still in his hand. He handed them too her before speaking again. "And there's something else I've been dying to do for a while now." Leaning down, he gently placed his hand on her cheek and moved his face until it was half an inch from hers. He hesitated for a second, taking in the feel of the moment before he finally pressed his lips to hers gently. The kiss was sweet and loving, showing just how much he'd missed her in all that time away. His other hand came up, resting on her other cheek so he was lightly holding her face. Now that he was finally in the moment with her, he never wanted it to end.

Eden couldn't believe that this moment was finally her. she had been waiting for what seemed like forever for Colton to come home, to come back to her and make her whole again. she desperately needed him back in her life, because she was growing slightly aimless without him. it might have been a little sad, the fact that she couldn't seem to function one hundred percent properly without him in her life. but Eden lucitania was more devoted to Colton mercer than any of them may have originally expected. it was almost like, as people observed, that every breath she took had a reason behind it, and undoubtedly, that reason was him. he was the momentum behind every act she committed, and the girl wouldn't have it any other way. as much as Eden knew she loved Colton, which was with a rather startling intensity, I might add, she ALS knew that there was a reason for evrything. Colton being gone wasn't happening just because. and the moment he came back, in the fashion he came back, well, there was a reason for that, too. Eden might have had a miniature heart attack upon seeing Colton on her door step, but you could hardly blame the girl. this was a bit of a shock, even though it was an extremely pleasant one. her body, from the moment she saw him, had just been aching to touch him, and when she finally wrapped her arms around him and his own came around her, she couldn't have felt more complete, as downright cheesy as that sounded. a musical laugh escaped her lips, and she told him, "anyone who thinks you're normal is crazy." her tone was teasing, and a sweet smile was on her lips. they could be crazy as hell, she didn't care. the world could have ended in that moment, and she wouldn't have been afraid, not so long as she had Colton by her side. at his response to missing her, a laugh bubbled our of her again. she couldn't help it! she was just so damn happy to finally be back in his arms. she didn't necessarily like the fact he pulled away, but she consoled herself with the fact that she could hold him again, however long she wanted, because he was finally here to stay. nevermind those cameos of his in her dreams, this was all real now. she didn't have to suffer through the loneliness any more. Eden looked up at him, awestruck by his beautiful eyes, smiling lips, and handsome face. he truly couldn't get anymore perfect, and that was a bit of pressure for the girl. how would Eden ever be able to compare to someone she held in such high esteem? the thought didn't bother her too badly; apparently, she was just as perfect in his own eyes, and Eden prayed he would never change his mind. the young woman too the flowers from him, cradling them gently in her arms and just feeling special and loved by him. his hands raised to her face, and her heart stuttered as he leaned down, paused, then pressed his lips sweetly to her own. eden's world was on fire, suddenly, and Colton lit the flames within her. she returned the sweetness if his kiss with the sweetness in her own heart, a hans raising to cover one of his gently. Eden couldn't really see how this moment could get anymore perfect. she pulled back, gazing adoringly into his beautiful eyes, before murmuring, "I love you, Colton mercer. I'll never stop." the intensity in get words at this statement seemed wrong for the light sweetness of the current situation, but she felt the need to say it. the hand upon his reached our then to press lightly on his cheek, her thumb caressing it gently as another breathtakingly tender smile tilted her rosy lips upwards

As sad as it may have been, it was all too obvious that Colton needed Eden. Not only did she make him feel better, but she generally made him a better person. After all, no one else had made enough of any impact on him to make him want to change. Sure, he'd known he needed to, he'd known that the drugs were going to ruin his life if he didn't do something about them. But no one had made enough of an impact on him to really make him want to change. He had to wonder if this was a bad thing. Was he really as close to his friends and family as he'd once thought? Or was it simply because they'd known him for so long? After all, he'd already known what most of them would say if they found out about what he was doing. And he was sure to get these actions when everyone learned that he was back. But the one person who's reaction he hadn't had figured out was Eden's. Maybe it was sign, or maybe it was just because he simply hadn't known her as long. He could argue that it was partly because he just didn't want to know. He didn't want to imagine the disappointment or the hurt in her eyes. But he had wanted to make sure that he would never see it again. It was mostly the reason he'd done so well in rehab. The rest was because he simply wanted to be better for himself. He did have that much self-respect. Lately, anyway. And now that he was back with her, and that horrible part of his life was in the past, Colton honestly felt like he had a second chance. To do better at everything, to live better. For her. He listened to the sound of her musical laughter and his grin widened from it. "I agree. But I wasn't going to be telling them that." Colton actually had wondered if he was mentally ready to come home. He'd stopped needing a hit to get through every day, but every now and then the urge would cross his mind. Or he would begin to think about it in general. This scared him slightly. What if, after he was finally back home, he wouldn't be able to keep the urges at bay? However, as he gazed down at the girl in front of him, he knew he didn't need it. As long as she was there, nothing would be too overwhelming. Her laugh filled his ears once again and she knew it was simply because she was happy. He didn't blame her. This was a very nice reunion, indeed.
He watched her as she took the flowers, a look of love on her face. It was always moments like this, when he knew he was making her happy, that he felt the best. It was really all he lived for anymore, anyway. When his lips finally met hers, Colton felt truly completed again. Oh, how long he'd had to go without this. But now he was finally here again. For good. They parted once more, his hazel eyes burning with intensity as he gazed into her darker ones. She spoke, causing his lips to tug slightly upwards. "Good. Because I love you, too, Eden Lucitania. Until the day that I die." His statement seemed too far-fetched for someone his age. But he knew it was true. No matter how old he was. He didn't look away from her as her hand rose to his cheek. He gently laid his own over it before his smile turned to a devious grin. In a second he moved and brought her swiftly and easily up into his arms. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" He teased before crossing the threshold of the house and closing the door with his foot. Colton moved through the house, a preset destination in mind. Even if he happened to come across any of her family members, he wasn't going to let it affect his mood. Luckily enough, the halls seemed vacant as he found her room and entered it. He laid her down gently on her bed, giving her another short kiss before pulling back. It was then that his eye caught something on the wall. It was the song he'd written for her and had sent her with one of his letters. An idea formed in his mind then. Crossing her room, he gently lifted her guitar from it's stand and moved back to the bed, plopping down in front of her. "I told you that I would perform the song I sent you, right?" He plucked at a few strings, getting a feel for the wooden thing under his grasp. He'd always liked this guitar. It had class. Moving his gaze up to meet Eden's once again, he spoke again. "Would you like me to do that now?" His fingers continued to roam the strings in no particular fashion as he waited for her reply.

eden would never really be able to fully express to colton how much she loved him. how much she needed him in the worst possible way. it never really crossed her mind that to love someone as much as she loved colton... it might be a little dangerous. of course, she didn't have reason to! the worst was behind them at that point, she knew it. eden couldn't help but be confident in that fact; she couldn't let herself believe anything else. she'd never been the type of girl to be constantly worrying. in fact, she had always been quite the opposite. optimism was a key part of eden's personality, why she was always smiling when she started the day. if she kept on thinking about how bad things were going to be, or how bad things could become, where would she be? depressed, down, and unable to do what she loved best. the first couple weeks of colton's absence, she quickly realized that when she was sad she couldn't produce her music, and this troubled her greatly. that was one thing she had to do. it was the only way of letting her emotions out, because oddly, she wouldn't talk to anyone about how much she missed colton. so, she forced herself to take a deep breath and look at the bright side. of course, that had gotten a little harder once she thought that colton didn't want to talk to her anymore because he wasn't returning her letters. however, the fix to that came a few days later when she finally got a response back from him. after that, it became easier for her to be optimistic. it became easier for her to be happy, because colton would be back with her before she knew it, or so she told herself. once again, eden's mood took at dip when she realized that colton wouldn't be back for a very long time. she wanted him. she needed him, more like. she needed to see the one person she truly loved so she could breath freely again.
that release came when she saw him standing before her, flowers in hand, in the flesh. eden knew that it would soon be hard for to be anything but happy. it was just how she was when colton was with her, when he was in her life. everything was just that simple. "oh no, of course not. i'm glad you didn't. because that means i get to keep you instead." she gave a bright, teethy smile, her eyes intent on his, feeling the happiness she had missed flushing through her. god, she loved him. more than she would ever be able to express in words. his words, his soft, soft words, reached her eyes like beautiful music. another wide smile broke out across her face, and she leaned up to kiss him very tenderly. it was a kiss that might have been able to express a quarter of the emotion she felt for him; there was just so much in her, that not even a kiss as tender as the one she was giving him could truly express her feelings. when she leaned back, her expression was soft and her eyes were like melted chocolate. a laugh exited her lips when suddenly he lifted her up in his arms. she couldn't look away from his face. eden loved that mischievious look upon it, the way it lit up his beautiful hazel eyes. god, she was such a romantic, but she didn't care. he took her into her room, and gently set her down on her bed. her dark eyes trained to him as he crossed over to her guitar, taking it and bringing it back. had it been anyone else, she might be slightly bothered that they had asked before taking. but it was colton, and she knew that he would treat her baby with the utmost care. she'd had that guitar since she was twelve years old, it was special. eden crossed her legs beneath her, shifting so her body was facing colton. she nodded her head at his first question, her eyes curious as to what he was going to do. when his second question registered in her brain, she gave an excited smile, nodding her head, "oh, please! i've been dying to hear it!"[/color] her tone was one which an excited child might have, and it was bound to bring a smile to his face. Colton would really never be able to tell Eden how it felt to finally be standing in front of her once again after so long. Since he understood that he needed her, he could realize the feeling of warmth a little bit better. It was something he'd never really experienced before. The deeper he dug into it, the more he liked it. But also, the more he realized that it could be dangerous. With that amount of love for one person, one wrong move could literally break him. Colt had always thought of himself as a pretty stubborn and strong-willed guy. But with Eden everything was different. He'd only gotten a taste of it by being away from her for the month. But even then, he'd known he would come back to her. What if there came a time when he knew he would never see her again? It was things like that that really showed him that this situation was a very delicate one. Everything could so easily fall apart. And even though he didn't want to admit it, that scared him. Even by this time, he knew he couldn't live without Eden. Everything about their relationship was fast. They'd liked each other instantly, he'd felt almost like he'd known her for years by the end of their first meeting. And before long, he'd been head over heels for her. When he looked back on the amount of time that he'd known her, it wasn't really all that long. Not even half a year. Yet he was already to the point where he would give up his life for her without a second thought. She meant everything to him. And he didn't think he would be able to function without her in his life. As sad and as scary as it was, it was true. But there was really no reason to dwell on this, because Colton was never going to have to deal with not having her. If she stayed in the state of mind she was currently in, that is. There was always the chance that she would wise up and realize that she was far too good for him. As selfish as it may be, Colt prayed that that day never came. Because he knew that such a thought would never cross his own mind. As long as it was what she wanted, she was stuck with him. However, this didn't seem to be a bad thing. At least not anymore. He had, after all, promised to be better. He would make her time with him worth while.
Just like now. As he stared down at her, the only thing he was looking for was a smile from her. Thankfully, he was succeeding. He couldn't help a smirk at her comment about keeping him. That was exactly what he had been thinking. She kissed him a second time and his heart stopped for a moment. If this was what every day with her was going to be like, he never wanted to leave her side. As Colton carried her to her room, noting just how light she really was, he'd had no intention of doing anything specific. But he figured that playing a song she claimed to like for her would be a good way to say he'd missed her. The song was about being away from her, after all. His hazel eyes traveled to the piece of paper on the wall as he strummed the guitar aimlessly. He was actually kind of surprised that she would pin it up. It wasn't really that great. Especially without the music that went along with it. He moved his gaze back to her dark eyes as she spoke. The excitement in her voice brought a smile to his face. There were times when she was just so irresistibly cute. "Alright. Your wish, my command." He stopped strumming, looking down at the guitar as he let the memory of the notes flow through his head. "It's not completely put together yet, so it might sound kinda bad." He said without looking up. He paused for a moment before he began to play the beginning of the song, the soft and slow tune filling the silence of the room. "Hello, beautiful. How's it going? I hear it's wonderful in California. I've been missing you, it's true..." He raised his head to look at her as he continued the song. Colt had never really been nervous to play his music for people before. But he couldn't help the small nervousness in the back of his mind. He could only hope that she liked it. "...'cause I could comb across the world and see everything and never be satisfied, if I couldn't see those eyes." He finished slowly, putting emphasis on the last word before he finished the guitar. In all truthfulness, he'd written much deeper songs, but to his credit, he had been in rehab at the time and it had merely been a way to express his loneliness. He just hoped that she found it a little bit endearing.

Eden Lucitania wouldn't be able to deny the sudden attachment she had felt to Colton when they had first met. It was too strong to deny, and seriously.. Eden didn't even want to try and deny it. Colton had meant too much to her from the very start, and it was probably part of her naivety that allowed her to fall so hard so quickly. Eden truly did love Colton, with all her heart and body and soul. Everything within her, it was all focused around one emotion: her love for him. Nothing would ever mean more to her in her life, of that much she was certain. Of course, she didn't mind that. As long as he wanted her, which she had a feeling he always would, then she would stay. It didn't matter the bad things they went through, because as long as they had each other, they would be fine. Eden was struck with the fact how perfect everything was for them. They functioned in such a way that it would be impossible for them to get upset with each other, for things to fall apart between them. Such was the strength of their affection, that it truly felt like nothing could go wrong. His love was a huge safety blanket wrapped around her, and she felt it with every action she made. He was the force behind everything she did, and that type of devotion should have intimidated her, but she couldn’t bring herself to let it. Eden was so content in that moment, she didn’t thing she could ever ask for anything more. Her hands folded neatly in her lap as he began his song to her, and the moment his beautiful, rich voice entered her ears a soft smile crossed her pretty lips. She listened intently, and the depth of the emotion that she felt… the pain she had felt because she had missed him so horribly. The feeling of her being complete now, in his presence, overwhelmed her and brought tears to her deep, chocolate eyes. As he finished, she exhaled a shaky breath, some tears falling over the sides of her cheeks. God, she loved him. She needed him to know it. Eden crawled over to him, placing a hand gently on his cheek as she leaned forward to press her lips to the side of his mouth. “I’ve never heard anything more beautiful.” She whispered softly, leaning back to gaze into his eyes. “I love you, Colton Mercer. More than my own life.”

The thought had crossed Colton Mercer's mind that he should be afraid. After all, if his feelings were really as strong as he liked to believe, there was no telling what would happen if he ever lost Eden. In the short span of time that he'd had her in his life, he'd come to understand that he hadn't really been living before he'd met her. Sure, he'd been happy for the most part. He'd enjoyed things, lived life. But he'd never fully understood what it was to see, or to smell, hear, feel, taste. None of his senses had been fully awakened until she'd quite literally stumbled into his life. It was that moment that had truly opened up his eyes to what life really could be like. In a way, Eden was just like a drug to him. She enhanced his surroundings, making everything that much better. Not to mention the fact that he needed her. Almost like he'd needed a hit to get through the day. Though, it might have been wrong to compare her to such a thing. But there was only so many ways to describe how he felt. And sometimes, even he didn't know what to make of his emotions around her. She was the sun. Plain and simple. Without her he would surely perish in a dark and cold world. The downside of the drug, when it was finally gone. But this kind of withdrawal might be one he wouldn't be able to survive. Colton was quite sure that going back to the half life he'd lead before Eden would be impossible. Now that he knew what it was like to be whole, well, being half of himself just wouldn't be enough. The young man would rather go through the misery of his time in rehab a thousand times over than have to live a single day knowing that he would never see her again. This, this was why he knew he should be feeling some sort of terror. The fact of the matter was, it was very easy to lose someone. Tomorrow was never guaranteed. What if Eden died that night? It wasn't impossible. So why was it that he couldn't bring himself to fear it? Maybe it was because he couldn't even fathom such a disaster happening. If he really did understand that she could be ripped so quickly from his life, perhaps then he would be afraid. But honestly, he felt nothing but love and excitement at what lay ahead of them. No, Eden would not be taken from him. Because if she was, the entire Earth would stop spinning. It simply couldn't happen. She would always be there when he needed her. This he knew in his very soul. The girl wouldn't hesitate to be right by his side. Colton would never understand why, but she loved him. Deeply, passionately, just the way he loved her. Which was what made them perfect. It didn't matter what they were doing. Just sitting on her bed, guitar in hand, Colt was in his own little paradise. Because she was sitting in front of him. It was all he could ever ask for.
For a moment as he saw the tears enter her eyes, he felt a pang of regret, but he knew why they were there. She wasn't sad. Not when she was smiling at him like that. Still, the sight of moisture in her beautiful chocolate orbs was never a sight he would be comfortable with. He sat the guitar aside as she crawled closer to him, he lips pressing gently to his. He met her gaze as she spoke, her lovely accent filling his ears. His smile widened. "I'm glad you liked it." It really had been his goal, her enjoying the song. And he couldn't help but feel accomplished at the look on her face. Her lips parted again, her words touching his soul the way they always seemed to when she spoke with such meaning in her voice. He leaned slightly closer to her, moving a hand to her face and wiped away the tears with his thumb. "I know. You shouldn't. But, I know you do." He paused, taking in her beautiful features. "You know I feel the same, right?" He asked, searching her gaze. His eyes then fell down to the bed. "I think I've known since the day we met. But... I didn't want to accept it. And I pushed you away." He gave a small, almost sad laugh before he raised his eyes once more to stare into hers. "It was stupid, I know. But I'm not going to do that to you anymore. You... you mean too much to me. I don't think you'll ever understand just how much. And I wanted you to know... that I'm gonna give you a reason to say those things. I don't know how, but I will." There was a burning intensity in his hazel orbs as he said this. He spoke nothing but the truth. He wanted to give Eden a reason to love him. Even if he had to spend his entire life doing it.
